What is Evangelizing? Evangelizing is sharing the Word of God with the people you encounter in your world. Evangelism is the one thing that we have all been commanded to do. In mark 16:15, Jesus said “Go the whole world over, and proclaim the Good News to all mankind”(WNT). He wouldn’t have commanded us to do it if it was not possible. Matter of fact it is very easy and it is great fun. All you have to do as a believer is just to open your mouth and speak as the Holy Spirit gives you what to say and you will never go wrong (Luke 12:12).
FOUR IMPORTANT REASONS FOR US AS CHRISTIANS TO EVANGELIZE
YOUR NEIGHBOUR
Your neighbour may have misunderstandings about the gospel. Some of the common misunderstandings are:
- You get Salvation the old-fashioned way by earning it
- Do more good than bad and you will be saved
- All religions are the same. The most important thing is to believe in a higher power
- God loves us so much that He could never let anyone go to hell.
People who believe these do not know Jesus and His message. (Romans 10:17)
YOURSELF
Personal witnessing is necessary for the spiritual health of the believer. Personal witnessing releases power in our lives. (1 Corinthians 2:15). Even Paul felt inadequate at times in sharing the Gospel who but the presence and power of the Holy Spirit by sharing the Gospel. (2 Corinthians 12:9).
YOUR CHURCH
Personal witnessing is a necessity for the life and ministry of your church. The church’s growth is dependent upon adding new believers to the church (Acts 2:26-47).
YOUR LORD
God chose us to be involved in the salvation of the lost. We are told to be witnesses of what we have seen and experienced (Matthew 28:19). We are sent out as God’s ambassadors in the world (John 20:21, 2 Corinthians 5:20).
Jesus expects those who follow Him to become personal witnesses (Matthew 4:19). God holds us accountable for sharing the Good News.
